PROGRAM: EMBELLISHMENTS FOR QUILTED PROJECTS
Maggie and Tammy will provide ideas and demonstrations. They suggested you bring one of your projects that you want to try to embellish.
JANUARY MEETING NOTES
We had a very busy night with lots of ideas and suggestions for this year starting with a change in leadership. Lu and Tammy agreed to co-chair with emphasis on continuing active participation of all members. That has been the most important part of our group since the very beginning.
We decided on a change in the fat quarter exchange this year. Instead of a drawing, everyone is encouraged to bring a fat quarter for exchange or to place in a box for another charity quilt at some point in the future.
Tammy will bring her girls small sewing machines to each meeting so if you are having a problem with a project the group can help and you can put it together right there. Or you can bring your own machine if you prefer.
The group agreed to a proposal that we make the “Pioneer Sampler” 2009 BOMquilts baby sampler that Tammy designed. This would be instead of the block of the month project that Edie has hosted for the past several years. Tammy will provide instructions and fabric using bright, gender neutral Moda basics fabric and cut up all the pieces needed for each person to make a 9″ finished block. We will do 2 blocks (simple to make) in Feb, Mar, and April; then one block per month for the next six months. The fee will be $2 per block or $24 per person for the whole quilt top and Tammy will include fabric for the border and binding as part of the fee. It is a great opportunity to learn new blocks and have a finished baby quilt size top at the end of the year. Tammy needs to know as soon as possible how many people want to participate so a special announcement was sent out to all members on the e-mail list.
Refreshments for the meetings will continue to be provided by members except for a few changes for months that were shy of member birthdays. Maggie will bring food in March instead of Augus and Ann will host September instead of July. On Linda Barton Nights (the group agreed these are too much fun to leave out), we are all invited to bring munchies.

Tammy brought a Western Table Runner. How to information on quiltbug.com .
Lu brought blocks from a Friendship Quilt pieced in 1932. She discussed with the group different ways of putting the blocks together to make a really special quilt.
Margaret had made a wonderful photo wall hanging with her grandchildren and her horses.
and Ann brought her Christmas stockings to show that even though they were not quilted—-they were finished!
And that—at last—is all I know for now. Hope to see you all on the 16th.
