FAT QUARTER FOR OCTOBER IS BLACK
SEPTERMBER MEETING NOTES
WOW! Do I have lots of pictures to share. We had a great time with show and tell for starters.
Elinor brought a quilt top she pieced many years ago and now she is anxious to learn more about quilting so she can finish it. Julie brought an aplique halloween witch.
Theresa had finished piecing the block Tammy tought us to use when we need to deal with colors we like in a pattern that is too overwhelming.
Now, if I could just remember how that went together. It really turned out fun and very pretty. This one looks like a mosaic to me.
Margaret brought two quilts she has been working on as gifts. Only question is “Where do I sign up to be on her gift list?”

Julie brought two frayed flannel baby quilts/knee warmers.

And Gayle had a quilt made from whole cloth for a grandaughter. The trick was in the lovely quilting, which does not show up in the picture.
Ann was working on a non-quilt, but had been teased so much she wanted to show that she has a special project.
And that was just the start of this fun meeting. We also reviewed progress on the round robin charity quilts that Tammy started us on. The first top has been pieced, Tammy will have it quilted, and the group agreed that it should go the the United Methodist Women to raffel. The proceeds will go to the Boy Scout Troup sponsored by the church. The remaining quilt tops are still in progress. Each is unique and they show some of the amazing variety available with quilting.

Tammy had brought a basket for anyone who wanted to donate quilt related items to send to the women in OHIO who lost so much in the terrible floods earlier this year. This project is still in progress, the basket will be back at our next meeting, so if you have any items you can share with a fellow quilter please bring them. Many of the homes were under water for days and the women lost all their quilting books, patterns, thread, scissors, rulers—just anything that might help a quilter get started again would be appreciated.

And, after all that, we still had time to work on favors for the award brunch.

There is absolutely never a dull moment with this group of quilters. Edie
