STUDIO ART QUILT ASSOCIATES AT SAQA.com: I sat next to Maggie Clark at the Creations Auction on Saturday. She told me about a site with loads of information about Art Quilts including workshops put on my members of the group. This is a non-profit organization whose “mission is to promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development and documentation.” If you are interested in learning more just Google SAQA.com.
SEPTEMBER MEETING NOTES
Jana Osbourn, County Extension Agent was ill and unable to attend but provided Kay with lots of information and handouts on Emergency Preparedness. Kay included topics specific to our area and there was a lot of discussion of the impact disasters in other areas may have on our community.
Joyce also reminded us about the project to make favors for the Christmas Luncheon the Medina Quilt Group will host in December 2008. She will bring a box to each of our meetings so we can bring the Post Card Quilts we have made for the project.
CATHEDRAL WINDOW PLAYDAY
We met at the library on Saturday, September 29th to learn about Cathedral Window Quilts. Norma was not able to attend but she loaned one of her beautiful quilts with notes on how it was done. My mother-in -law, Mable also brought the cathedral window she has just finished–4 years in the making.

Mable and her quilt folded in half.
We also looked at variations of the Cathedral Window look that could be done with a sewing machine and only a bit of hand work.
and finished off the morning with visiting and trying out the instructions for a “starter” set of blocks. My grandaughter, Jessica, got in on the act with a little help from her Mom.
This has turned into a long newsletter, but we had a busy month. Hope to see you all on October15th.
