SEPTEMBER FAT QUARTER THEME IS YELLOW
SPECIAL NOTICES:
The Silver Sage Quilt Show is in October. I didn’t get the notice out to you early enough last year but hope some of you will think of entering some of your quilts this year. For more information go to www.fallintoquilting.com They have the rules for entry as well as form you will need to submit with each entry. Or go by the Silver Sage and ask for information. It would be fun to let the Bandera quilters see a little more of what we have been up to in Medina.
The San Antonio Quilt Guild show is this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Go to www.sanantonioquilt.com/ for time and location.
The last Saturday in September will be our third special learning day of the year. Norma and I will be showing you several ways to make a Cathedral Window Quilt. We plan for this to be a real hands on activity and will post a list of supplies closer to the day. My Mother-in-Law will be coming as my guest and will bring the queen size Cathedral Window she has just finished. It is her first time to try this pattern and she has been working on it—hers is all by hand—for 4 years. I need more instant gratification so I will be showing how to do this on a sewing machine. Hope you will all mark your calendar for Saturday, September 29th at the Medina Library from 10am til…..with a break for lunch.
AUGUST MEETING NOTES
Gail brought a family quilt from the 1800, colors still bright and beautiful handquilting stitches.
Tammy brought a baby quilt made with some of her own block designs as well as some of the blocks from this years Mystery Quilt. She also brought Quilt Pink II designed for breast cancer awareness month in October. She had found Iron On Labels to go through your home printer at Hometown Crafts in Kerrville.
AUGUST PROGRAM
Joyce challenged all of us with her beautiful “WEARABLES” presentation. She recommended several books by Judy Murrah as good resources if you want to try something really special. They can be found new and used on Amazon.com.
I hope you are all inspired and will see you Monday for fun, fellowship and learning too.
