JULY 2007 NEWSLETTER
Our July Meeting will be Monday the 16th at 6:30pm.
The Fat Quarter will be blue.
The program will be Jelly Roll Strip Quilts by Tammy.
June was a busy month for Medina Quilters. Joyce did our program on Borders and Bindings and brough a lot of examples so we could see how they can really set off the quilt as well as allow adjustment of size for a particular purpose. There was a lot of discussion of mitering bindings.
Joyce had a sample to look at and a helpful handout for us to keep.
Tammy and Lou had completed the flag block of the month.
And Edie brought the mystery quilt wall hanging for discussion of best ideas for border and binding.
Show and tell had several beautiful quilts. With discussion of making use of your stash!
June was also a “Workshop” month so we gathered at the Medina Library on Saturday the 30th to learn more from Maggie about Postcard Quilts and actually try our hands at making some. These are to be our favors for the Christmas Luncheon we will host in 2008 so we had lots of Christmas fabrics to share and Maggie brought samples of trims and supplies for us to try. I hope we will have some samples of our efforts for the July meeting. It was truly a day of sharing.
Joyce took home a scarf from someone’s stash that was truly too pretty to cut into pieces.
See you all on Monday July 16th at the Medina Library at 6:30 for more fun. Edie
