Boy did we have a busy meeting in January, after the ice storm delay. Our program was on Paint Sticks for Quilt Embellishment by Theresa Evans. The technique really can make the difference between a so-so block and an amazing, eye-catching block. We spent a lot of time planning programs for future meetings.
The February program will be “Internet Quilting for Dummies” with Tammy Harrison.
FUTURE PROGRAMS
MONTH TO BE ANNOUNCED:
Post Card Quilts: Maggie
Borders & Binding: Joyce
Appliqué: Linda Barton maybe
Scrap Book Quilt: Kay
Wearable Art: Joyce
Memory Quilt:
Labels for Quilts: Kay
Paper Piecing: Julie (November)
Jelly Roll Strip Quilts: Tammy
We decided to plan Saturday hands on programs for the months that have 5 Saturdays. They will be at the Library from 10am til we finish. Furnish your own lunch and sewing machine.
March 31st. Quilt Basics.
June 30th, Cathedral Window—3 ways to do it.
September 29th, Art Quilts
We played Quilters Bingo for the fat quarters and plan to continue that game each month.
The Fat Quarter for February should be pink!!!!
Kay will bring us a Block of the Month for each meeting. If you chose a focus fabric for the block of the month and make one each month you will have the makings of a sampler quilt by the end of the year. Bring your version of the block of the month to the next meeting and we can see how different they look with the individual fabric choices.
We will be starting a new Mystery Quilt in February. I will bring the instructions each month with cutting and sewing directions. This mystery quilt will be a wall hanging size in 5 parts and Tammy’s web site led me to it.
Remember Show and Tell. We all learn so much from each other by sharing. This is me, finally putting the last stitch in the Sampler Quilt from our first year. I plan to bring it to the next meeting.

Our next meeting will be Monday, May 21st and Linda Barton will be showing us how to make a “folded fabric star”. Linda brought a sample to the program planning meeting and everyone there thought it was a really pretty and different project.
The Fat Quarter for May is “RED”
The April program by Maggie Clark on Fabric Postcards was amazing.
Maggie brought so many variations and ideas there was no way to choose a favorite and the group asked her to plan a Saturday workshop so we can all try this out. She agreed and we hope this will be our next Saturday Quilt Day, June 30th at the library. Watch this newsletter for further information and a suggested supply list.
Several members brought SHOW AND TELL including Gayle’s quilted block from the Saturday Beginner’s Workshop.

I continued the Mystery Quilt but so far no one else in the group had brought peices to show progress. This month, the instructions gave a good idea of what the finished wall hanging will look like but if no one has cought up I will wait another month before handing out the next set of instructions. Tammy promised to bring her own interpretation of the instructions.
See you all next Monday at the library.
