March 2007 Newsletter
Our February meeting was filled with activity. We had lots of show and tell. Tammy, Donna and Lu brought examples of a block of the month so we could see the variations.
Linda Barton brought a beautiful bird quilt a friend, Cherry Jones won in a raffle.
Linda also brought two of her own And I brought the quilt I had started our first year and finally finished. Tammy Harrison gave a very informative program on Internet Quilting for Dummies with a great handout on sites for free quilt patterns. She has posted the information on our web site medinaquilters.com We played Quilters Bingo for the fat quarters and plan to continue that game each month. The Fat Quarter for March should be green!!!! Kay will bring us a Block of the Month for each meeting. If you chose a focus fabric for the block of the month and make one each month you will have the makings of a sampler quilt by the end of the year. Bring your version of the block of the month to the next meeting and we can see how different they look with the individual fabric choices. We started a new Mystery Quilt but if you missed the instructions I will have more copies at the March meeting. I will bring the instructions each month with cutting and sewing directions. This mystery quilt will be a wall hanging size in 5 parts and Tammy’s web site led me to it. Remember Show and Tell. We all learn so much from each other by sharing. Kay will present a program on Quilt Labels at our March meeting and we will also need to plan our Saturday program on introduction to quilting. This was requested by several members and we will need to think about what to include and share what we know. The Saturday program will be at the Medina Library from 10 am til we finish on March 31st. Think about inviting your friends who might be interested. Maggie Clark has promised she will present information on Post Card Quilts at the April meeting. We had several new faces at the meeting and they have given me their names to be added to the e-mail list. See you all on Monday. Edie
